Artist statement
Just as taking a snapshot of a film in streaming, I make a contact with ones which send me signals from ordinary routine flow. They arecommonly used stuffs, places, food, or things from daily life. Although they are already defined by existing words, they have their own stories of showing time, space, language and culture in different perspectives.
After removing their conventional meanings, functions, and purposes, I try to tell their different stories from my viewpoint and also from time and space of the moment. In the process of collecting and reinventing various pieces from the life I encountered, I emphasize distinctions, which have been submerged, without emblematic and common elements in the context of culture, region, and space. From the moment that prescribed meanings and functions disappear, new perspectives and existence fill in the space.
